The biggest banks by deposits and market share percentage, according to June 30 2006 FDIC data:

1. Bank of America, $590.6 billion, 9.2 percent

2. JPMorgan Chase, $462.3 billion, 7.2 percent

3. Wachovia, $379 billion, 5.7 percent

4. Wells Fargo, $309 billion, 4.8 percent

5. Citigroup,
$224.6 billion, 3.5 percent
