How marketing budgets get cut

(author unknown)

In the beginning were The Assumptions.
And from The Assumptions a false light emanated.

From the glow of the false light grew The Conclusion
That growth comes from cutting costs.

And from The Conclusion a plan took form.
Yet The Conclusion was without Substance.

Lo!  The Immaculate Plan was born from Nothing.
And The Immaculate Plan appeared unto the Marketers, whose faces fell into darkness.

And they spoke among themselves, saying:
"It is a crock of dung, and it stinketh."

The Marketers turned to their Supervisors and sayeth:
"It is such a pile of excrement that none may abide by the odor thereof."

The Supervisors went unto their Managers and sayeth:
"Tis a container of organic waste and it is very strong."

And The Managers went unto The Directors, and proclaimed:
"It is a vessel of fertilizer, and competition will bend to it's strengths.

Thus The Directors spoke among themselves, saying to one another:
"With such strengths, we will surely grow like plants."

So the Directors presented their scrolls to The Vice Presidents, which read:
"Such a plan promotes growth, it is very powerful and environmentally friendly."

Thus The Vice Presidents shared bread with the President, and after strong drink declared:
"The Immaculate Plan is all Powerful because it is Green!  We will grow with vigor and be first in our marketplace.

And the President looked upon The Immaculate Plan and declared:
"We can save coin while receiving more coin at the same time."

And The Immaculate Plan became The Law for all the land.
Upon receiving The Law, The Marketers bowed their heads and prayed.

This is how marketing budgets get cut.
